What was the New Imperialism?
The New Imperialism was when a powerful country takes over/controls another country or region of its political, economic, and cultural way of living. It was considered "new" because in Europe, powerful, centered governed nation-states had sprung up and the Industrial Revolution helped the European economy greatly. Many things caused the new imperialism. People were using new imperialism so they could win many places they needed overseas to expand so they could trade with other countries & get more money for their country to grow & improve on. They would rather export items out then pay to import them in. Reasons for this was so they could get more natural resources from other places across the world (that they would conquer by battle) because they could not grow their own resources or make them. By the 1870s-1914s many places gained control over much of the world. For example Europe found favor with all classes giving them much of the new imperialism for their military power & economic grow. These places had grown stronger. The new imperialism was to make places stronger but on the other hand make other places to become weaker. This was a good & bad thing. The places that got stronger for example were the western areas, they gained technology and improved medical knowledge that helped them survive deadly tropical diseases, & win wars & land. So the new imperialism was for countries to gain their own strength & win many countries.
